For a number of legal, political and logistic impediments, the creation of a regional scientific association such as ECCO continues to be a pipedream in our region.
IBDacadeME is an organization dedicated to the advancement of the care of patients, research, and education in IBD in the Middle East.
It relies on a convenient and efficient digital platform, professional administration and oversight, and a transparent business model ensuring continued teamwork, and the advancement of science, education, and patient care.
This is an area of unmet need in the Middle East, where there is a noticeable lack of organized regional medical associations and limited opportunities for quality education partnerships despite geographic proximity, and language and cultural similarities.
Although this vacancy is partially filled by the pharmaceutical industry with sponsored standalones meetings, considerable need and effort remains in bringing forward an unbiased regional scientific framework for exchange of knowledge, networking, training, research, and patient advocacy.
Mission
To enhance digital education, expand knowledge, develop and leverage local and regional experience and expertise, foster academic opportunities and partnerships, spread awareness and support patient advocacy groups, build professional networks, and stimulate quality control initiatives and collaborative research in IBD.
